Don’t trust an app? Sandbox it.

I came across an extremely useful piece of software, which has most likely saved me hours of frustration. Sandboxie , is an application which allows you to run software you otherwise might be afraid to let loose on your computer. Technically, it seperates the read/write operations done to your system in a virtual machine called a sandbox.

You could also run your browser/email client in the sandbox, as this acts as an excellent preventative measure against unpatched exploits from harming your PC. The best part about all this is it is quite simple for any user to use, from launching a program from the Sandboxie control, or even right clicking on an exe and selecting ‘Run Sandboxed’.

Keep in mind that this won’t 100% protect your computer from malware, but it is an excellent supplement. Always have anti-virus/firewall software installed aswell. Also, if you are looking for a completely comprehensive but more advanced ’sandbox’ solution, you should take a look at VMWare.

If you like the program, support the author!
